I love listening to podcasts. And there are numerous podcasts for private practice therapists, offering advice, guidance and support for those running their own business. (I’ve even had a chance to be on a few!) But it’s hard to find a centralized list, all in one place, with the best podcasts.

I thought I would change that by putting together a list of the most popular podcasts geared to the private practice. (A major hat-tip to Joe Moss for the idea.)

But if you want to know the most popular podcasts, it’s not easy. You would have to get subscriber numbers, download figures, etc., which all costs money.

Social media, on the other hand, is free. So I used figures from LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram to determine which podcasts hosts have the largest followings. And from there, we have some inkling of the more popular podcasts in the private practice space.

Of course, there’s other caveats to this. I was really trying to home in on North America, so if someone outside of U.S. or Canada slipped through, that’s my mistake. Also, I really focused on talk therapists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers and the like. You could do a whole other list involving speech pathologist, physical therapists and others (and maybe I will!).

And this is a list of podcasts for private practice therapists instead of those podcasts by therapists. The goal was to find the podcasts speaking to private practice owners about their practice, business, finances, strategies, goals, mindset or other purpose.

Finally, I know there’s some people that reject social media. I understand, I just couldn’t figure out another way to measure. Younger podcasts are at a disadvantage here as well, since they have had less time for growth on social, even if their download rates are strong.
